Tragedy At School

Just an ordinary day
I was sitting in class
Just reading my book
When I was knocked on my ass

A kid had a gun
He was patrolling the hall
I should have skipped school
Should have gone to the mall

He shot my best friend
She died in my arms
I had blood on my hands
The school sounded the alarms

Then my teacher was killed
I hid behind a door
I didn't know today
Would be like a war

Then the kid's friend came
Put a bomb in the room
It was homemade
I was looking at doom

When they were out of sight
I ran out on the lawn
Just then an explosion went off
Must have been the bomb

Some men with vests on
Told me to put up my hands
I heard a kid dressed in black
Say things looked just grand

I wanted to smack him
Say, "My friend died in there!"
Tell him to shut up
But I didn't dare

Everything was hectic
I could hear the kids screaming
Some poor girl got hurt
I could see her bleeding

I heard later that
Those two guys shot themselves
I just shook my head
They needed professional help

I hope never again
To live through that ordeal
See all the bloodshed
See all the tears spill

It had been an ordinary day
Before those two guys would sign
A horrendous death threat
For poor Columbine
