Epilogue
We talked about just anything all afternoon while we ate our lunch. It was a pleasant setting, compared to the cold, dark warehouse of my last engagement. After lunch was over, I said goodbye to my friends as they climbed in their cars and drove away. I sat down on a bench in front of Marie Callender’s, waiting for my ride.
A loud Nova gunned it’s engines as it rounded the corner and pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant. James stepped out, dressed in one of his classic velvet shirts. We kissed and he put his arm around me. He escorted me to the car and opened the passenger door like a real gentleman. James skipped around the back of the car and got in the driver’s side. He started the engine, backed out of the parking space, and we drove off into the sunset. Well, what do you expect? Of course we were going to end up happily ever after! :)“Francie, this is my friend Nina,” I introduced the two girls after we were settled at our lunch table, Saturday afternoon. I may have defeated my former master the night before, but I was never one to forget a lunch date.
