Freaky Tracy
Chapter 1

Disclaimer: Tracy, Nick, and all the others from Forever Knight are exactly that; from Forever Knight. I do not own Forever Knight or anything having to do with it. The Jerry Springer Show is not mine either.

~~~~~
“I told you, my name is not Tracy!” I yelled, getting ticked off.
“Trace, maybe you should take the evening off,” Nick said, with a concerned look on his face.
It was 3:30 am, Thursday evening. I didn’t know what was going on at the time. At first, I thought I was dreaming. How could I be at the police station from the tv show Forever Knight? This was incredible. And if they were calling me Tracy, then where was the real Tracy? I figured this was just like that movie, Freaky Friday, so I just decided to go with the flow.
“Um, yeah. I need to go home. I’m tired,” I faked a yawn. I grabbed my coat and went out the door. Nick ran out after me, calling my name.
“Trace, you’re going the wrong way. Your car is this way,” he took me by the elbow and led me in the opposite direction. I reached in my pocket and took out a keyring. I followed Nick to my car and unlocked the door.
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Yes, um, Nick. I’m fine. I’ll just come back tomorrow. Now, could you drive me home? I don’t know where I live.”
~~~~~

Where was I? I had absolutely no idea. I was in a strange bed. I looked over at the nightstand, and saw that it was 3:30 am. I picked up the little clock and pushed the alarm button. Someone had set it for 6:30. I decided that this was like that movie, Freaky Friday, so I figured I would just go with the flow. I thought it would be a smart idea to get some sleep until the alarm went off, but I heard this click-click-click noise. Then this huge dog walked into the room, jumped on the bed, and started licking my face. It was gross. I shoved him off the bed and went to sleep.

~~~~~
I unlocked the door and walked into Tracy’s apartment. I went to a desk and opened some drawers. I found a date book and looked in it. I was in luck. It held all of Tracy’s dates and times. I was supposed to be at work at 8:00 the next evening. ‘Well, I guess I should go to sleep then. But first, I’m hungry.’ I went to the fridge and opened up the freezer. I saw 6 pints of Triple Ripple Fudge sitting on the shelves. ‘And she’s not fat? What’s wrong with this girl? Well, I’ll do her a favor and eat healthy foods while I’m stuck in this body.” I opened the fridge door and took out some fruit for a fruit salad.
After eating, I was ready for bed. I opened the closet door and took out some pjs. They were a flannel top and pants. It looked comfortable, but not too romantic. I wanted to be ready in case Vachon arrived. After all, there were still a few hours of darkness left.
~~~~~

I punched the alarm as it went off. I could not get up and go through the day without finding out what was going on. I got out of bed and walked to a dresser. I opened up the drawers and took out some clothes to wear.

As soon as I was dressed, I picked up a school bag and unzipped it. I found a day planner. I was in luck. It had all of this girl’s appointments and events until next month. I found a school i.d. Her name, or rather my name, was Lynn Johnson. I was 15 years old. I was in 10th grade. And I had Algebra in 45 minutes.

~~~~~
I woke up to the alarm. I quickly got out of bed and opened the closet door. I chose a stylish peach pant suit and set it out on the bed. I pulled a towel from the linen closet and went into the bathroom for a shower. Tracy, or rather I, kept Herbal Essences Shampoo and Body Wash. I giggled, thinking of Tracy yelling, ‘Yes! Yes! Yes!’ as I stepped into the shower and closed the door.
~~~~~

I set out some clothes to wear and grabbed a towel from the linen closet for my shower. As I walked down the hall, checking out the different rooms of the house, I saw a plump brown dachshund pad across the floor. The tags on her collar clinked together as she ran towards me and started whining and jumping around. I pet her head and scratched her tummy as I examined the tags.

“Well, Daisy, you seem nice enough. You know any tricks? How about fetch? Or sit? Obviously not,” I said to the dog as she gave me a rather quizzical expression at hearing the commands.

I found the shower and opened the door. There were some bottles of Suave Apple Essence sitting on the shelf. It would appear that Lynn liked apple. ‘Oh well. I can’t stand apples, but there’s nothing else to use.’ I thought.

~~~~~
I woke up around six and called the precinct to tell them I wouldn’t be in tonight. I decided I was going to spend the evening on the town.
Just as I got up and opened the closet to pick out my outfit, I heard a swoosh behind me. A cold hand touched my neck and played with my hair.
“Hello, Vachon. I was hoping you would show up,” I turned around and gave him a kiss. “I always wanted to meet you.”
“What do you mean? You know me.”
“Tracy knows you, but I don’t. Have you ever heard of the Gypsy Switch? I believe it must have happened once before in your long, long lifetime.”
“So, if you aren’t Tracy, who are you?”
“You can call me Tracy if you want, but my real name is Lynn.” I grabbed him by the collar of that sexy leather jacket and pulled him to the door. “We’re going to the Raven!”
~~~~~

I finally had a chance to sit down around six. I grabbed the remote and turned on the tv. It was turned to channel 11. A cartoon show was on. At first, I wanted to change the channel, but something compelled me to watch. The show was called The Simpsons. It was about a dysfunctional family with a stupid dad and a mom with six-foot blue hair. It was actually interesting. I was hungry, so I walked to the freezer and opened the door. Horror!!! There was absolutely no ice cream inside!!! Living in this alternate world was going to be hell.

~~~~~
We arrived at the Raven and sat at the bar. Vachon placed his hand on my leg. I was wearing a black dress that skimmed the tops of my knees. I’m sure Vachon was quite moved to see Tracy in such a revealing outfit. There were, of course, no sleeves to the dress, just two thin straps. The dark nylons I wore showed my long, slender legs, and the black heels were thin leather strapies. The bartender walked to us and Vachon ordered a glass of wine for him, and a spritzer for me. It was hard convincing him that I didn’t want any alcohol. I spotted a dark figure on the other end of the bar. He had chiseled features and very short, blond hair. It was none other than LaCroix. I stared at his poise, his dark features. The black turtleneck had a tiny, silver dagger sticking through it as a very provocative, mysterious pin. His jacket was also black, and against his shirt, it blended it in nicely. It gave him the look of a square-shouldered man, but that could have just been because he has such a solid build. He sat there, sipping from a wine glass. Vachon must have seen me staring because he took me by the hand and led me to the dance floor. There was a rather odd slow song playing. He pulled me close and we danced together for what seemed like forever. It felt wonderful in his arms. I rested my head on his shoulder and breathed in his scent. Oh god, did he smell good. I didn’t want to leave, it was so wonderful. But then the song ended, and we returned to the bar.
~~~~~

That night, around eight, I was lying on my bed in my room when the phone rang. I picked it up, and a girl’s voice came from the other end.

“Hi Lynn.”
“Um, hi. Who’s this?”
“It’s Jill! Thanks so much for remembering. So, what are you doing?”
“Nothing, I guess.”
“Tomorrow’s Friday. You still sleeping over?”
“I don’t think I can.”
“Why the hell not, buttmunch?”
“Um, I have a- what did you call me?- anyways, I have a huge project in Chemistry.”
“You don’t have Chemistry.”
“Oh, of course not. I meant Biology.”
“You don’t have Biology either.”
“Oh, just drop it. I can’t sleep over, okay?”
“Fine. Bye.” There was a click. I had obviously ticked her off.
